Love this data infographic about who’s using mobile LBS and Geosocial. I’m fascinated by it as an avid Four Square’r. Convergence technology is making it easier, and frankly more interesting to use these services, but there is still a long way to go. Clearly this data shows us that consumers are engaged passionately with mobile devices (83% have a mobile device? -wow).
So in spite of the relative infancy of the mobile device market, or perhaps more accurately the utilization of the device for marketing purposes and aligned services, the vast growth and functionality have made marketing to them easier, faster and far more appealing. I suspect that smart devices will take the mantle of a burgeoning class of North American youth who see it as some God given right to have and to hold (rather than love honour and obey?). So the question is with this increased demand, will it push down our cellular rate plans to push the market into a more European flavour with high volume rates making the service costs more accessible?
