This made my day.
A nine year old in Scotland thought the food in her school sucked. So she started telling people about it on her blog. She started the blog in April 2012 – its now mid May and and in a sum total of 10 posts or so – she has generated 100,000 views of her blog and counting along with posts from other kids all over the world. US First Lady Michelle Obama and Internationally acclaimed chef Jamie Oliver have given her shout outs. Kid 1, school 0.
Quick lesson for marketers, governments, small businesses – if you make stuff, sell stuff or fix stuff. If you provide a product or a service and it sucks – people will post online. They will not be discrete, they will not ask your permission to tell others that you dropped the ball. This 9 year old is proof.
The internet is the great equalizer and frankly – if you are one of those brands you better be prepared for the likes of the current generation, and then next generation of kids who use a smart phone and blog about shitty food in a cafeteria. Wait till she finds out what else the web can do.
Check it out.
